Usage of and Attitude Toward the Internet and Mobile Phones
Tuesday, May 22nd, 2007The Pew Internet &
American Life Project just
released the findings of a
new survey of 4,001 U.S.
adults that segments
Americans into a range of
groups based on usage of
and attitudes toward the
Internet and mobile
phones. The report is
provocative (even
surprising) but long, so
I’m just going to
summarize it at the very
highest level. (You can get
a copy of the report here
(PDF file). Out of the
survey findings, Pew
developed an elaborate
classification scheme based
on ten types that fit into
three broad categories:
Elite users (31 percent)
Middle of the road users
(20 percent) Those with
few “tech assets” and
limited use of technology
The Future Of Learning Is Informal and Mobile: A Video Interview with Teemu Arina
Monday, May 14th, 2007Thanks to my good friend
and senior corporate
learning researcher and
independent writer Jay
Cross, I have had the good
fortune of meeting Teemu
Arina, a young Finnish
educational scholar, with
lots of good ideas, a fully
working brain and a vision
for the future as only a few
are able to crystallize.

video interviewing Teemu
Arina in the park of S.Angel
Castle in Rome I found
Teemu to be a true thinker,
and one that does like to
stretch the definitions of
what is possible and
what’s not. Open-
minded and capable of
evaluating viewpoints
different than his, he is
also a pragmatical individual
